Guitar Scale Finder Guitar Power is a guitar scale finder that helps you learn to play scales and then teaches you how to use them. Its large database of over 500 scales is split down into six groups representing different types of scale - major modes, harmonic minor modes, melodic minor modes, a good helping of pentatonics, symmetrical scales and there's even a 'misc' group for those scales that defy classification!
You can display a scale over the whole guitar neck or restrict it to an area of 4 or 5 adjacent frets - this allows you to either get an overview of the scale or to find useful fingering patterns in different areas of the neck. As well as displaying the notes on the on-screen fretboard, Guitar Power lists the letter names of the notes and the scale's formula. A nice touch is the listing of alternative names for each scale. A lot of thought has gone into the production of this guitar scale finder which is apparent from the sheer number of scales and the amount of fine detail that it contains. Improvising guitarists are well catered for by this guitar
scale finder. The chord/scale relationships screen which superimposes
a scale on top of a chord is unique. /Although you can combine any chord
with any scale, you are steered down the right path with advice about
which scales go best with a chord. From a practical point of view, each
scale has several backing tracks so that you can practice improvising
using the scale. Great fun, but also a great learning tool! Purchase Guitar Power - $29.95
